POSITIONERS

The electropneumatic positioner is a device whose main function is operate the control valve actuator in order to position the plug correctly in relation of the valve seat.
Normally the positioner is mounted on a pneumatic actuator whose function is to supply compressed air to the valve actuator in order to position the plug stem at the point corresponding to the signal received by the positioner.
The positioner compares the emitted signal with the valve stem position and supply the necessary pressure for actuator to adjust the plug to the desired position.
There are several types and different positioners, including linear and rotary positioners.
