A mat\u00e9ria-prima mais comum s\u00e3o as lamas de depura\u00e7\u00e3o, recolhidas de uma zona urbana para uma esta\u00e7\u00e3o de tratamento de \u00e1guas residuais, atrav\u00e9s de uma rede municipal de esgotos.<br>Antes de regressar \u00e0 natureza, as \u00e1guas residuais s\u00e3o submetidas a um processo de tratamento em v\u00e1rias fases para remover a mat\u00e9ria org\u00e2nica, os nutrientes e os poluentes, de acordo com os regulamentos locais. A primeira fase remove maioritariamente material inorg\u00e2nico, produzindo lamas prim\u00e1rias. As empresas de abastecimento de \u00e1gua investem em muitas tecnologias diferentes de tratamento de lamas, para recuperar energia ou nutrientes das lamas, reduzir os odores, eliminar os agentes patog\u00e9nicos ou cumprir outros requisitos regulamentares.<br>A maioria das esta\u00e7\u00f5es de tratamento de \u00e1guas residuais de m\u00e9dia e grande dimens\u00e3o recupera energia das lamas atrav\u00e9s da digest\u00e3o anaer\u00f3bia. A hidr\u00f3lise t\u00e9rmica exp\u00f5e as lamas de depura\u00e7\u00e3o ou outros tipos de res\u00edduos org\u00e2nicos h\u00famidos a alta temperatura e press\u00e3o. O processo \u00e9 semelhante \u00e0 prepara\u00e7\u00e3o de refei\u00e7\u00f5es com vapor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A partir das unidades de tratamento prim\u00e1rio e secund\u00e1rio da esta\u00e7\u00e3o de tratamento de \u00e1guas residuais, as lamas de esgotos brutas s\u00e3o recolhidas e desidratadas at\u00e9 16-18% de s\u00f3lidos secos. Estas lamas espessadas s\u00e3o continuamente introduzidas no pulper. O despolpador tem a fun\u00e7\u00e3o de homogeneizar e pr\u00e9-aquecer as lamas a uma temperatura pr\u00f3xima dos 100\u00b0C, utilizando vapor recuperado do tanque de flash.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A partir do despolpador, as lamas quentes s\u00e3o alimentadas continuamente aos reactores, num processo sequencial que assegura lotes selados de lamas em cada reator. Quando um reator fica cheio, as lamas passam para o reator seguinte dispon\u00edvel. Normalmente, existem entre 2 e 5 reactores num comboio de hidr\u00f3lise t\u00e9rmica Cambi, dependendo do volume de lamas, da dimens\u00e3o do reator e do tempo de reten\u00e7\u00e3o hidr\u00e1ulica. Quando o reator est\u00e1 cheio e selado, \u00e9 bombeado vapor para aumentar a temperatura para 160 a 180\u00b0C a uma press\u00e3o de cerca de 6 bar. O processo de hidr\u00f3lise t\u00e9rmica \u00e9 normalmente definido para 20 a 30 minutos para cada lote, para garantir a elimina\u00e7\u00e3o dos agentes patog\u00e9nicos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do reator, as lamas, agora esterilizadas e hidrolisadas, passam para o tanque flash, que funciona \u00e0 press\u00e3o atmosf\u00e9rica. A queda brusca de press\u00e3o leva a uma destrui\u00e7\u00e3o celular substancial da mat\u00e9ria org\u00e2nica das lamas de depura\u00e7\u00e3o. O vapor gerado pela liberta\u00e7\u00e3o de press\u00e3o \u00e9 devolvido ao despolpador para pr\u00e9-aquecer as lamas que entram. Saindo do tanque flash, as lamas s\u00e3o arrefecidas \u00e0 temperatura t\u00edpica da digest\u00e3o anaer\u00f3bia, em permutadores de calor.
